Only An Idiot Would Believe My $1 Million Bitcoin Prediction: John McAfee Explains

Published by Cyber Flows on

The popular tech entrepreneur and well-known cryptocurrency proponent John McAfee has once again said that his $1 million Bitcoin price prediction was nothing but a joke.

He made that prediction back in 2017 when the cryptocurrency was surging and reached its all-time high value of around $20,000. Back then, he argued that if BTC isn’t at $1 million by the end of 2020, he will eat his own… man parts.

He has since backed off from that bet. At first, he said that it was to drive more attention to Bitcoin and help with its adoption. Now, however, he claims that it was downright absurd, asking, “what idiot could believe such nonsense?”

What’s more, McAfee took the opportunity to bash the cryptocurrency, calling it the “most crippled crypto-tech.”

Going Back and Forth

For those following the crypto space over the past three years, McAfee’s behavior could seem a bit strange. While he has called Bitcoin a “shitcoin” before, he never really showed signs of his prediction being a joke only an idiot would believe, as he claims right now.

In fact, he has defended the cryptocurrency on multiple occasions. Back in 2019, he said that while it was under pressure by the US, the country “has no real power in controlling cryptocurrency.” If that’s not positive enough, he finished his statement by saying that “a week from today, Bitcoin will continue its meteoric rise.”

He’s also reiterated, on multiple occasions, that people shouldn’t worry about short-term price fluctuations and that they should be focusing on the longer term. Last year, he once again confirmed that.

“Ignore this drop in Bitcoin’s price. I am firmly with Peter Brandt in his medium term $50k price prediction. I am also firm on my $1 mil price by the end of 2020.”

In any case, it appears that the tech entrepreneur no longer sustains his claims, thinking that Bitcoin’s chance of reaching $1 million is practically non-existent.
