Mission completed! VfB Stuttgart won with VfL Wolfsburg 3:0 and secured its place in the playoff round to keep the place in the German Bundesliga.

VfB Stuttgart had to win this game as it needed 3 points to finally get away from the relegation zone. But it was obvious that Vfl won’t be easy rival as it still needs points to reach the place which guarantees the right to play in the European cups, even UEFA Champions League.

The first half of Saturday’s game was very even and each team has its chances to break the goalless score. The guests from Wolfsburg had the ball more often but they weren’t able to take advantage from it. VfB played with patience and focused deeply to use any mistake made by the guest side. And this patience paid off. In the additional time of the 1st half, Gonzalo Castro shot on goal with power and beat the VfL’s goalie.

Just after the start of the 2nd half, VfB Stuttgart struck again. This time Anastasios Donis finished with a goal nice team effort. And with 2 goals advantage, VfB reached great comfort on the pitch. The hosts focused on defending the good result, trying to avoid any mistakes which might let the VfL score the contract goal.

In the 84rd minute, Daniel Didavi scored third goal for VfB this afternoon and established the final score. It was a very impressive win of the team from Mercedes Arena.

It’s now confirmed: VfB Stuttgart will play in the playoff round to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga. Its expected rival will be propably Union Berlin, currently the 3rd team in 2. Bundesliga.
