Ricciardo received a friendly middle finger from Verstappen
Daniel Ricciardo is very happy with his fourth place on the grid. After qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix, the Australian had a nice get-together with Max Verstappen. He talks about it with Jack Plooij on Ziggo Sport.
“I saw him in the parc fermé”, said Ricciardo, who then made the gesture that he raised his middle finger at him for a joke. “He was waiting for me to get out of the car. He knew I would visit him to get a response.”
The driver from Perth doesn’t that he couldn’t beat his former teammate. “If I saw that the gap had been only one hundredth, I would have been more disappointed than now. He was two or three tenths faster and that was not going to happen for me. I was very happy with my lap in the first run. Fourth place is good.”
Ricciardo continues: “It has probably been a long time since Max and I were on the second row,” he laughs. No one has ever won from fourth place at Spa-Francorchamps. “I don’t have to win to be honest. I’m also happy with second or third place.”
The Renault driver hopes he can fight tomorrow with Verstappen and Alexander Albon. “We can get close. The race pace of Max and Mercedes is very fast. We need a little extra to really fight with them, but I’m ready. Let’s see what happens tomorrow,” he concludes.
