Max starts from P3 in Monaco
Max Verstappen will start the Monaco Grand Prix from the second row. On the 3,340 meter long street circuit of Monte Carlo, he managed to qualify for P3.
“They were too fast”, Max says after qualifying, referring to the Mercedes who occupy the first row. “My lap in Q2 was good, but during my first lap in Q3 I lost some time in the first corner due to cold tires. But it was still not a bad lap. If you push through these streets like this your heart rate will go up. And on my second lap the outlap was too slow. Even now I had too cold tires in turn 1 and then you see that you lose two tenths and then you can no longer risk it. Then I decided to cancel my round. “
Max continues: “P3 is fine, because ten minutes before the start of the qualification there was no floor under the car. The engineers have done a good job by getting the car ready on time.”
