VFB STUTTGART FINISHES THE REGULAR SEASON IN GERMAN BUNDESLIGA
The VfB Stuttgart football team finishes the regular season in the German Bundesliga. In the last game day, the team from Stuttgart will play an away game against Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen.
Everything is clear for both teams which will meet on Saturday. Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen has 32 points and holds 14th place in the table. This team could both go one place up, taking over SC Freiburg (13th place, 33 points) or one place down in favour of FC Augsburg (15th place, 32 points). Anyway, this season was extremely dissapointing for Schalke 04. In previous season, this team was German vice-champion and won the promotion to the Champions League! And just a year later, Schalke 04 was in danger of being relegated to the 2. Bundesliga.
Secondly, VfB Stuttgart knows well its nearest future. The team from Mercedes Arena in Stuttgart will finish the season on the 16th place in the table and has to play 2 more games in additional playoff round, deadly important: propably against Union Berlin, 3rd team from German 2. Bundesliga. The stake of this playoff is clear: the winner will stay in First Bundesliga or be promoted into, loser will drop to the lower league or stay there.
For VfB Stuttgart it will be very important to stay well-motivated and deeply focused. That’s the basic merit of playing against Schalke 04 at this specific moment. The team from Gelsenkirchen has several great players. Just to mention Serbian national team defender Matija Nastasic (worth around 20 milion Euro), midfielder from the USA Weston McKennie (also national player, worth 20 milion Euros), creative offensive midfielder Algerian Nabil Bentaleb (market worth: 20 milion Euros), midfielder from Marocco Amine Harit or striker from Switzerland Breel Embolo. These guys know what football is all about and are always very dangerous. It’s not easy to beat them and if VfB does so, it will be a great morale boost for the team before the crucial playoff round.Game day 34 in German Bundesliga, Schalke 04 Gelsenkirchen – VfB Stuttgart, Saturday, May 18th, start: 3:30 p.m. CET.
