Lamborghini Super Trofeo – Axcil Jefferies
The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Middle East event was inaugurated in Dubai by a brilliant victory on the parts of Timur Boguslavskiy and Frederik Schandorff at the wheel of the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo no. 9 of the Target Racing team.
Boguslavskiy and Schandorff played a strategic game, waiting until the second half of the race to pull out all the stops. After a less than spectacular start in second place, in the first stint Boguslavskiy managed to move up a position before handing the wheel over to Schandorff during a lightening quick pit-stop. The Dane maintained a very fast pace, moving into the lead before crossing the finish line ahead of the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo no. 29 of Jefferies and Azzam (Konrad Motorsport team), the latter having started in the pole position. Third place went to Puhakka and Kasai in car no. 63 of the FFF Racing team.
“When I got into the car the cockpit was boiling hot,” said Schandorff at the end of the race, “and it wasn’t easy to drive. In spite of the tremendous heat we didn’t let up for a second. Right now, our main focus is holding on to our lead through the next two races”.
“I’m thrilled to have won the first race of the championship,” Boguslavskiy exclaimed on the podium. “The start was not one of my best and I had to grapple a bit with Jefferies, but it was a fair fight. I tried to keep steady nerves and not overstrain the car.”
In the PRO-Am category first place went to Jefferies and Azzam, finishing second Overall; Vincent Schwart won in the Am category with the Konrad Motorsport team’s Huracán no. 11; the winner of the Lamborghini Cup was Gerard Van Der Horst at the wheel of car no. 98.
